About the Studio
Meet Doc Martinez
Worship Leader. Vocal Educator. Called to Cultivate Sacred Voice.
The Story
A Voice Shaped in Church, on the Stage, and in the Classroom
Dr. Martinez didn't find her voice in a conservatory — she found it in the church. Raised in a tradition where music was ministry, she learned early that singing was never just performance. It was prayer. It was testimony. It was the sound of a community reaching toward something greater than itself.
That conviction has shaped everything. After earning a Master of Music in Opera Performance from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music Education from Angelo State University, Dr. Martinez pursued a Doctor of Ministry of Music from Covington Theological Seminary — because she believed the voice needed to be formed spiritually, not just technically. Over 25 years of performing, teaching, and leading worship have confirmed what she knew from the beginning: the most powerful voices are the ones fully surrendered to God.
Today, Doc Martinez Studio exists to gather adult singers who feel that same calling — people who want to grow not just as vocalists, but as worshippers. The Sacred Cohort model was born from that vision: small, intentional groups moving together through a journey of vocal formation, spiritual depth, and community.

That range — classical rigor and formal training meeting Spirit-led worship — is exactly what she brings into every cohort. Students don't just learn how to sing. They learn to give God their BEST talents and effort in Worship.
The Approach
Teaching Philosophy
"Your voice was given to you for a reason. My calling is to help you discover what that reason is — and give you the tools to walk in it fully."
Every cohort begins with listening — to the student, to the Spirit, to the sound that is already there waiting to be developed. Dr. Martinez builds each cohort experience around the group's collective journey, honoring individual voices while forging something unified and powerful. Technique serves worship. Worship deepens technique.
Voice as Calling
Breath, resonance, and range are developed in the context of purpose — your voice is a gift entrusted to you, and it deserves to be cultivated with intention.
Sacred Repertoire
Cohort members work through music that stretches them technically and stirs them spiritually — building a voice that can carry the weight of worship.
Community Formation
Singing together changes something. The cohort model creates accountability, encouragement, and the kind of harmony that only comes from people committed to the same journey.
Spiritual Depth
Technical excellence and spiritual formation are not separate goals. In every cohort, both are pursued together — because a voice fully surrendered is a voice fully free.
